Well known names such as Baxters of Fochabers (world renowned soups, jams etc), Johnstons of Elgin (knitwear, tweeds and world famous cashmere), Walkers Shortbread and Deans of Huntly (shortbread and a wide selection of other products) are all situated within easy striking distance, as well as the shopping centres of Inverurie and Elgin.
Any trip to Aberdeenshire or Moray wouldn’t be complete without a trip to one of our world famous distilleries.
Right on our doorstep is Glenglassaugh distillery. Under new ownership, this distillery is undergoing extensive renovation works to return it to its former glory. As well as producing its own famous malt, being situated next to the sea it provides excellent walking opportunities as well as a number of different tours which culminate in an opportunity to sample the produce!
Many other distilleries are within easy travelling distance of Fordyce. These include Glenfiddich, Glen Grant, Strathisla (the oldest operating distillery in the highlands), Glen Grant, Glendronach and Dufftown to name a few.
If you are travelling with young children we can also recommend a visit to Christies of Fochabers garden centre where there is a wonderful play garden. Here you can also browse their extensive range of gifts, toys and clothes . You can also finish your visit here with some refreshments from their famous ‘Teapots’ restaurant.
If antiques are your thing, the recently established ‘Cullen Antiques Centre’, ‘Cullen Antiques’ and ‘Bits ‘n Bobs’ all provide an excellent range of all things old!
